Last week, the Avian Kingdom had the honor of participating in Halloween in the Woods, a kid-centric, traditional event that dentist Dr. Matthews has hosted for 33 years at his office in Spring, TX. The kids donned their costumes and Mike from Monsters University as well as all types of princesses and pirates wandered to our booth to grab a pinnable button that features one of our characters from the books.
While each child got to pick between Hootsie and Tootsie, Jake and Wellington the pelican (from our most-recently published story), we also handed out our bookmarks for the kids to bag and take home to read with.
The event featured camel rides, pony rides, popcorn, a petting zoo complete with waddling ducks and plenty of tents passing out Halloween candy to the bustling crowd. Once again, our author Karen Chacek and illustrator Emilio Hernandez were able to attend, and Emilio read Two Hoots and a Holler to the milling trick or treaters while Dr. Hoots sat with other attentive children and interacted with the story.
