In late October, the Avian Kingdom caravan made its way up to Austin for the 17th annual Texas Book Festival. The sole purpose of the event, as defined in 1995 by founder Laura Bush, is to spotlight authors and their contributions to the culture of literacy and the imagination. The fest connects authors with their fans and followers with readings, books signings, kayak with an author and even a lit crawl where the writers set up at varying 6th Street venues to challenge fellow book worms to Jeopardy and other brain games.
This was a special event on our end, because our series’ illustrator Emilio Hernandez andour author Karen Chacek came along to answer questions and sign books for festival patrons.
In the meantime Dr. Hoots and Capt. Eagle did the electric slide at the Capitol steps, took pictures with passing kids- and kids at heart- and also passed out our bookmarks to kids of all ages to encourage reading at any age (whether it’s a supervised or solo activity).
The easiest way it of course location apps because he the simply and clear to all. Won’t raise excess problems and questions. And you don’t want to learn information not necessary to you.
